Festival Welcome

This year’s 12th Annual “Thunder By The Bay” Motorcycle Festival continues to grow each year and will offer attendees an affordable venue during these challenging economic times. Major changes are as follows:

• A new price and venue location for the Kickoff Party. The fun will take place inside the PAL Sailor Circus Arena featuring The Greg Billings Band and Tucci Group. Ticket prices have been lowered to $15 in advance and $20 at the door in an effort to make it more affordable for everyone.

• On Sunday, a scenic “Cruise for Cash” will take place rather than our traditional poker run as in years past. Riders can buy a card for $10, and make their choice to either cruise up Longboat Key along the beaches or through Myakka State Park making only one stop before riding into the Downtown Festival. If riders draw a cash card they will immediately become eligible for multiple cash prize drawings ranging from $100, $250, $500 up to $1,000.

• Reserved and secure motorcycle parking will be available this year on Palm Avenue for all riders participating in the “Cruise for Cash”. This has been a challenge in years past due to space downtown, however, the City of Sarasota has granted the Festival access to Palm Avenue (between Main St. and Mcansh Street).

• A new location for the Bike Show at Five Points Park.

• Two stages at the Downtown Festival featuring live entertainment by The Bobby Friss Band and Tucci Group.

Since this festival began eleven years ago, more than $700,000 has been raised for local children and families by this annual event. Not bad for an event which, in its first year had approximately 80 motorcycles that raised approximately $150. Every year “Thunder By The Bay” attracts an increasing number of visitors into the Sarasota area, resulting in significant economic impact for local hotels and businesses. A special thanks goes out to all the generous sponsors, community partners, and volunteers who make this festival possible year after year.

Our goal is to provide a safe, affordable, and fun atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. I hope to see you at this year's festival. Sarasota's own "Thunder By The Bay" has become a destination event so ride safe and have fun!
